Our trip First we got a late start (Hubby was missing some meds and it didn’t get here til 10 this morning. When we finally got on the road, every thing was good, until we were 150 miles out, and the car dumped it’s oil. That was around noon. We had to wait 5 hours for the tow truck. We were lucky we didn’t blow the engine, but that killed the trip for awhile. I am sooooo bummed!
This is NOT a chore I enjoy, but it is what I am doing today. Got a couple of last minute items to take along with us. I know two dogs who are going to be VERY upset, but I do need to leave them behind this time. This is the first trip in a long time and we are actually using a utility trailer as our camper. I looks like it will be an adventure! We leave tomorrow. Hope to get a spare camera @ Walmart. If I find one I REALLY like.
I am finally staging what we are taking with. Next weekend will be a tough one since all the campgrounds near the reunion are booked! Not happy, but I am sure it won’t be so earth shattering since we have done this before. Count down 1 1/2 days to takeoff. I will be SO happy when we are finally on the road!
Departure time is fast approaching. I am getting the clothes and camp gear together. There is some debate as to sleeping bags or something cooler. Hubster is working on converting the utility trailer into a small travel trailer. He put in a wood floor, electric and screens on both back and side. We are picking up the last of the tubs and things we area bring with us and staging it to pack Sunday afternoon. We are both stressed out, but probably for different reasons. I think I will be glad when we pull out on Monday.
Well, Memorial weekend is the official opening of the Petrified Wood Park in Lemmon SD. It consists of a park that was constructed in the 1930s and opened in ’32 It has a museum, gift shop and the park itself which boasts a waterfall, wishing well, Castle, fort and trees which were all made from Petrified wood and grass materials which came from nearby farms. In July the town hold their Boss Cowman celebration which honors the founder GE Lemmon. The town has a second museum on Highway 12. I hope those who travel or are near the Dakotas can stop by and visit. Fair warning that you may have to spend hours in the museums to see everything in them. Lots to see, lots to see…
