I thought electronics were suppose to make things easier! Now I have to carry a book around to handle all the new “Strong” passwords, phrases and codes for all my ATM cards, emails, vendors, banks, and other things that these things are required of us! Lady forbid that I transpose a number or forget to update the book each time I add or revise something. Passwords use to be 4 letters/numbers &/or symbols! Now they are 8+ and if you don’t do it right, you are locked out. Sometimes I think we should get rid of all these devices and life would be so much easier!
I have (maybe) a chance to go back to college and follow a dream of mine. There are two problems with this … Well, maybe more than two…. In the Dakotas or at least where I live, jobs are few and far between. Not to say there is not a need for trade skills such as nursing, electrical, construction and farm labor, but on my end the four I have listed I can not do or rather have problems with. Nursing. I use to do in home care and helping those who were in the nursing homes. Problem here? I tend to develop gastrial/intestinal problems when working with people who are ill (well, to be honest when I work around people in general). Electrical/construction. What some people find a twinge when touching anything electric, I find it hits me like a ton of bricks, and construction, my knees are bad, I don’t do well with heights and I can’t lift/carry anything over 35 lbs. 50 lbs max as long as it is a saddle or dog kibbles. Farm labor? I am a 55+ year old white female. I still fight to find anyone who will hire me because I am neither male nor Hispanic. So I choose a duel course in CAD-CAM and computer programing… I am not being told that no one is hiring in those areas where I live (big whoop! As if anyone would hire me anyway in this town) and I have to work in a big city because I have to work at the boss’s won’t hire independent contractors due to the fact they want to keep the work as their own (As if I want to keep what I do for someone else!) so I am told that this is not for me. Problem is I have no interest in any other courses, and the guy I have been working with is less than enthusiastic plus hasn’t gotten back to me due to sever health issues! I am signed up with the college, but not sure if it will happen… decisions, decisions! Not sure what to do next… Just saying.
I happen to be Cree, and I also have happened to do my research on the pipe line and what is happening in N. Dakota.
- The pipe line is not on Indian land.
- There are 5 other pipe lines which date back to the late 1800’s which are probably more apt to leak and cause more damage than what is currently being installed.
- Those who are postdating this are like the scabbers who were brought into the area to disrupt negotiations with union reps.back during the time of Taft.
- If they were so worried about this why did they wait until all the LEGAL permits were issued They were invited to talk about their concerns but never showed.
- Those who are protesting are thug and have caused more harm to those who live and work the lands of N. Dakota as well as disrupting traffic and causing harm to those not even involved.
Sure we have a right to demonstrate or voice our protests, but in a peaceful way. I know I may not be popular with my opinions, but I state things as I see them and in this case once I have done the research. It saddens me that we have become so reliant on the idea that government should care for us and that we should make people pay for the crimes of those who the current population had no control over. I say we should cut the apron strings and start taking responsibility for our own lives and our own actions. PC only weakens us and relying on those to tell us what to do when we know it is NOT the right thing also undermines our welfare and our lives. Get rid of those who are telling us that violence is right. And get rid of those who threaten this country by paying thugs and people from other states to do their dirty work and claim it is for the good of the Native Americans. THAT is a down right lie! To get rid of the pipeline will also make us vulnerable to those who control the oil in other countries. Let’s get over this crap and get back to living our lives without violence.
I wonder why they think we are stupid? I updated my Yahoo account about three weeks ago, and Yahoo keeps sending me requests to “update your yahoo account” because it is out of date. And Microsoft has made all their free games only a three week trial and won’t let me play them any more. I am also, because I refuse to opt into their monthly rental on their Microsoft office, getting demands that I upgrade to their rental because my version (the last one they put onto a DVD) is “out of date!”
W.T.F! I will not rent a program which in the long run costs me more than one I down load off a disk that has everything I need on it and can use for many years on any computer I own for less than the rental itself! And their guys had the GALL to tell me that if I can’t afford their so called cheep rentals how could I afford a computer in the first place? Now I somehow got one note onto my computer. I have tried to uninstall it and it says the program is not on my computer! If it isn’t then why must I sign onto it before using my computer?
I want less corporate interference in my life as well as less government! Ever since I upgraded to windows 10 my computer has been a nightmare! Microsoft and now Yahoo! LEAVE ME, MY COMPUTER and WELL ENOUGH ALONE!!!!
Why must we be so hectic, angry and self-serving? I mean, look around you! There is this beautiful world which we live in. With Technology came stress and time-clocks. People began rushing about trying to get to where-so-ever they were headed in record time to they could accomplish more and make more money to buy more “stuff”. Now don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with some of the tech out there, and working is a satisfying pass-time, but as a local priest asked, “What in the world do we need a vacuum which costs $800? It sucks!” I agree. I mean I look at all those “MUST HAVE DESIGNER BRAND” clothes, appliances and more and wonder why we (according to the adverts and our peers) Absolutely need them!
I was asked what I was looking for out of life. My answer is simple. I want peace. Oh, I don’t mean no war or such, though that would be nice, I mean peace with myself. No stress, no rushing about to earn enough to buy crap I don’t even need. I would do with out cell phones (and might still if they discontinue the flip phones), IPADS, TV, electric/computerized cars and clothes which (to me) makes you look like either a hooker or tent!
I want to spend time in nature, working on my art, poetry, prose, writings. Working with animals and in a garden, and in general only leave and go to the larger cities when I need to buy appliances, material for making clothes, clothes I can’t make on my own and entertainment (which is VERY seldom!). Peace to me is spending time with family, doing projects together and sharing ideas.
People who look down on the Amish and those who live in a similar way just because “Things/Stuff” doesn’t center around how they live will never understand this. Wanting to be without material things and to be uninterested in showing up everyone because you spent money on a $800 vacuum which you really didn’t need or $1,000 on an outfit or shoes, doesn’t make you quaint, backwards or hicks. It just means your have different priorities and values in your life. Thanks for reading.
I hate cars, car repairs, buses and those who run them.
I hate broken windshields leaking hoses and those who take their time repairing them.
I hate the expense and the noxious smells, I hate all the “Upgrades” which require practically a whole new car to repair since when the new cars go down they go down all the way!
In short I want a horse which will eat hay, need shoes and won’t brake down to the point where they have to spend days or months in a shop and the bill is equal to a new car when they are done.
As the year rushes to a close (again) I have come to the conclusion that we are relying too much on technology, and the clock. We have become a slave to time and technology and because of this we become too wrapped up in these things and let them rule our lives. I also seem to see that with the upcoming holidays as well. All three tend to stress us out without us realizing it. We become wrapped up in presents, decorations, fancy clothes/parties. We want to emulate those who have money and yet no matter how hard we strive to reach that perfection we find ourselves no closer and full of stress. When we get stressed, our reaction is to eat, binge, cry a lot and want to pull our hair out. We gain weight we do not need, and tension we can do without. I know. I don’t work in the business world, so I don’t have a steady income which may or may not rid me of some of that stress. I also have let go of some of the technology, or rather refuse it. Time? I hope that I am trying not to get wound up in the hectic world ruled by time and it’s restraints. I know that I am trying hard to become more comfortable in the world without being trapped by its hooks of having to do something by a certain time. I am trying to get my crafts out to those who might be looking for something different and yet not be tied down by the need for deadlines and money. It may never work out, or maybe it might. My wish for all you who read this is that your can find your ground and not be caught in the web which tightens its grip around us all and tries to get us hooked on all these things which stress us out and make us ill.
