Quick question for you gals. Have you ever drawn out a map from a small town showing where someone lives, and been told it makes no sense? You show Main Street, where a street crosses it with the notation on each side as to which is East and West. You mark which street corner it is on and then are told “There is more than one 8th street!” then get chewed out because you are trying to tell the guy (who it is NOT for but who is to give it to his friend) that his friend needs to call IF he has any questions. Just saying.
What’s for dinner? They all seem to shout as I come home from work or in from my shop. Not one suggestion or offer from those who stare in hopes the dinner will magically appear.
What’s for dinner? I ask them back but no answer will come from those staring back.
I throw out suggestions here and there but not one of those suggestions are accepted I fear. So I rummage through the cupboards and the internet too, hoping to find a dish that is new…
(Well tonight I decided on Salmon patties. Simple enough, but it would be nice if someone would speak up and give suggestions instead of expecting me to know what they do or do not want.)
What ever happened to the days when people went out of their way to be friendly and helpful, when customers could contact someone in person or by phone if there was a problem, where sellers didn’t treat you like you had a disease and actually knew that you are the one paying for THEIR services and product rather than believing that they are “God’s gift” and you should worship the ground they walked on! Just saying. I ordered a CD for my Art studio containing the contents of 36 books. It was suppose to have arrived no later than the 24th. It is now the 28th, so I went to the contact seller place and guess what! No contact information just vague questions and answers. I am a business woman and would be sure to keep in contact with my clients ESPECIALLY if there were a problem. This is my rant for the week.
I know I should get things done today and tomorrow, but I am having issues. My stomach is really acting up and I am (again) having trouble sleeping. I know I should be digging out my paints, reeds or the like, but every time I think about it something pops its head out and I find myself having to do things I did not plan on. I know I should tell visitors “no” and take the proverbial phone off the hook, but that isn’t always as effective as one might think. I have a neighbor down the block who always shows up unannounced for coffee (wither or not it is ready or I am in the middle of projects. A lady who always wants me to go for coffee with her and my other work that the hubster keeps piling up for me to do. Boy, I could use a wine cooler right about now! One wild berry mix please! Any way, I do hope your days/evenings are doing better than mine lately!
Well it is going on 230 in the afternoon. Thought I would get the day to myself … Boy, was I ever dreaming! I went to the Post Office to check and see if my order of journals had arrived yet and ended up stopping at the museum as well to pick up two deteriorating mounted deer heads which I took to my mother’s garage so I could salvage the antlers before tossing the heads. I then came home and our neighbor came over (10am) and stayed until 12 at which time I ordered a Chinese dish for lunch. I walk out the door and run into the friend again. I told him to watch the dogs while I picked up lunch. My husband calls and asks me to do something on the computer when he leaves. 215 he does leave and I get hubster’s correspondence taken care of and am told he was leaving on a one week trip on Sunday. AFTER I tell him I am taking the bus down to Rapid to pick up our son (no dogs allowed!) and I leave 645am on Weds. Which means mom has to watch them for the day and it takes her til 7 to get ready (if she has nothing else pending!). I am now out in my shop with my cold lunch and posting this. So much for my intentions to start on my baskets or anything else I planned to do while he was gone today. I should know better. He always has ways to screw up my day!
Ever hear the term “If it rains it pours” and “Feast or famine?” Well, these terms have been running through my life lately. First, my son gets ill and doesn’t tell us then has to drop his classes and retake them on his own. Then the “newest car” we got last year we’ve been pouring money into it like it has holes in it! The latest charge? over $400 to replace the power steering. It is costing us more to rebuild it than we paid for it!!!
Feeling kind of low about this since my hubster got a case of the gray clouds once he got the latest charges. Just needed to blow this out so I don’t get as far down as he is feeling. So my newest term for the same ideas is “Bundle of lousy falls in heaps” … How’s that for a name!
Yahoo added a set of videos that come up every time you email inbox, spam etc. is cleared out. I use to be able to click on it to get rid of it. I don’t like nor care for their videos in the email because it has nothing to do with emails. Now when I click on it it not only doesn’t stop, but it repeats itself. This is not my choice it is theirs, and when you try to let them know you don’t want it, you can’t because they won’t let you complain, even to the community or on FB! HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS!!!!! URG!!!!
I was so happy that the election was over. No more hatred spewed on the hearsay of others … NOT ! There is a line to be drawn in the sand, do it another way! Yes, I rant, but it is to get something off my chest, not to do a long standing grudge against a man who knows more about foreign policy and business than carrier politicians! He is enforcing laws already on the books, not sending everyone back who has stayed within the letter of the law. Those who are here illegally should either do the right thing and go through the process of becoming legal, not just saying because I am a poor little refugee that I have a right to come here without going through the proper channels. The LAWS are clear. Those who blame him for enforcing those laws and say they want to leave because he got elected and is doing the enforcing should not let the door hit them on the way out. I am sorry for this outburst, but I am getting tired of all the rhetoric which should be over and done with. Yes, you have a right to YOUR opinion but it should be an INFORMED opinion, not just spreading stuff that is what a preschooler would spread!
I have (maybe) a chance to go back to college and follow a dream of mine. There are two problems with this … Well, maybe more than two…. In the Dakotas or at least where I live, jobs are few and far between. Not to say there is not a need for trade skills such as nursing, electrical, construction and farm labor, but on my end the four I have listed I can not do or rather have problems with. Nursing. I use to do in home care and helping those who were in the nursing homes. Problem here? I tend to develop gastrial/intestinal problems when working with people who are ill (well, to be honest when I work around people in general). Electrical/construction. What some people find a twinge when touching anything electric, I find it hits me like a ton of bricks, and construction, my knees are bad, I don’t do well with heights and I can’t lift/carry anything over 35 lbs. 50 lbs max as long as it is a saddle or dog kibbles. Farm labor? I am a 55+ year old white female. I still fight to find anyone who will hire me because I am neither male nor Hispanic. So I choose a duel course in CAD-CAM and computer programing… I am not being told that no one is hiring in those areas where I live (big whoop! As if anyone would hire me anyway in this town) and I have to work in a big city because I have to work at the boss’s won’t hire independent contractors due to the fact they want to keep the work as their own (As if I want to keep what I do for someone else!) so I am told that this is not for me. Problem is I have no interest in any other courses, and the guy I have been working with is less than enthusiastic plus hasn’t gotten back to me due to sever health issues! I am signed up with the college, but not sure if it will happen… decisions, decisions! Not sure what to do next… Just saying.
I happen to be Cree, and I also have happened to do my research on the pipe line and what is happening in N. Dakota.
- The pipe line is not on Indian land.
- There are 5 other pipe lines which date back to the late 1800’s which are probably more apt to leak and cause more damage than what is currently being installed.
- Those who are postdating this are like the scabbers who were brought into the area to disrupt negotiations with union reps.back during the time of Taft.
- If they were so worried about this why did they wait until all the LEGAL permits were issued They were invited to talk about their concerns but never showed.
- Those who are protesting are thug and have caused more harm to those who live and work the lands of N. Dakota as well as disrupting traffic and causing harm to those not even involved.
Sure we have a right to demonstrate or voice our protests, but in a peaceful way. I know I may not be popular with my opinions, but I state things as I see them and in this case once I have done the research. It saddens me that we have become so reliant on the idea that government should care for us and that we should make people pay for the crimes of those who the current population had no control over. I say we should cut the apron strings and start taking responsibility for our own lives and our own actions. PC only weakens us and relying on those to tell us what to do when we know it is NOT the right thing also undermines our welfare and our lives. Get rid of those who are telling us that violence is right. And get rid of those who threaten this country by paying thugs and people from other states to do their dirty work and claim it is for the good of the Native Americans. THAT is a down right lie! To get rid of the pipeline will also make us vulnerable to those who control the oil in other countries. Let’s get over this crap and get back to living our lives without violence.
