Snow time like now?

Snow started 2 days ago. My mom was not happy we were headed down for the dental apts. We took Kotah with us & left Sadie with mom. I would say this is the first honest snow Kotah has been in. At first he was not happy not sure he liked it, until Sadie showed that she liked it … I think we created a snow monster! We end up staying outside LONGER in the evening while @ the hotel than normal.

Sleepy boy

Now it is time to sleep … IF we can find room!

Nip & tuck day for the new arrival~

Weds we are taking Kotah to the vet for his “Nip and tuck.” In the mean time I have found the he was born on Dec. 28th 2015. And that he had THREE previous owners who gave him the names Cujo, Dixon and Kotah. I kept the last name. I like it better. No food or water after 10PM tonight… Poor dear. Hey, for those of you who know about the Blue heeler breed, do you know what the extra deu claw is for on their hind legs? Sorry, not sure the spelling.

24 hours later…

Kotah is starting to calm down. For last night I kept him with me all night and blocked the stairs to where Sadie was sleeping. He first lay curled up on my pillow, then proceeded to work his way around my body. He woke me up several times last night. Sharp barks several times in the evening, followed by the wide grin and lolling tongue then curling up with a satisfied sigh when he knew I was awake again.
He eats all his food and tries to entertain himself with balls and pull toys. He, unfortunately tries to eat more than he should. Including Sadie’s bones.

New Addition

My hubster decided to look for a friend for Sadie, so he went on line. We found a Blue Heeler mix, male pup. Today we went to N. Dakota to see this pup. He lived in an apartment with a young couple whom we believe kept him in a cage while they worked. We got him home and introduced him to Sadie at Mom’s. They played a bit and seemed to get along … until we got home. He just won’t leave her alone. Right now, he is laying beside me in a semi calm while Sadie is stressing out. She will go up with Ed tonight and he will stay with me downstairs. I just hope that they will relax around each other soon! I need to go to work this weekend! Will post photos next week when I am done working.

Gidget

Today, my sweet Gidget left this world. We will miss her VERY much. We will miss the walks we took, the times she would bark when we would turn on the fans. Her sleeping behind the chair, and the game of “get the bone” where we would try and take her treat and she would snap. We will miss the smile she had as well. I know she is now with Bonnie, her original owner, and Bear, and another Sadie who lived not far from us. I know it will be hard, but I also know she is not suffering and her dignity is intact once again.

Good bye my sweet pup…

My familiar …

As some of you may have guessed, my familiars have been canine in species. My current furbabies are not young by a long shot. They are 10 years apart with the lab being the younger at age 7 going on 8 and my Aussie/blue heeler mix being 17 going on 18. The last couple of years the older dog’s hind left leg has been getting progressively weaker and these last few days she has been having a harder and harder time standing and walking. We are on a death watch, yet today she has been playful and not fallen but three times! She has so much life and intelligence in her manner and eyes that it hurts to see her failing, yet there are days like today when she is so alert and I want to think she will go on forever. So I only hope that she will go to sleep and not wake because I didn’t want her to have the indignity of being put down in a vet’s clinic rather than dying at home. Sorry, just needed to talk about her.
