The cattle business is a huge industry in the US. This is especially true in the Midwest regions where the land tends to be harsh and not much good for farming or communities with fancy stores/malls. Many places were built on the ranches which sprang up around here. For a long time the long horn breed was the hardiest and most practical, but since the late 1890’s to the early 1900’s other breeds have proven just as profitable. It is sad to see that the longhorns are not around as much anymore. such majestic creatures are fun to watch.
Ever hear the term “If it rains it pours” and “Feast or famine?” Well, these terms have been running through my life lately. First, my son gets ill and doesn’t tell us then has to drop his classes and retake them on his own. Then the “newest car” we got last year we’ve been pouring money into it like it has holes in it! The latest charge? over $400 to replace the power steering. It is costing us more to rebuild it than we paid for it!!!
Feeling kind of low about this since my hubster got a case of the gray clouds once he got the latest charges. Just needed to blow this out so I don’t get as far down as he is feeling. So my newest term for the same ideas is “Bundle of lousy falls in heaps” … How’s that for a name!
I thought electronics were suppose to make things easier! Now I have to carry a book around to handle all the new “Strong” passwords, phrases and codes for all my ATM cards, emails, vendors, banks, and other things that these things are required of us! Lady forbid that I transpose a number or forget to update the book each time I add or revise something. Passwords use to be 4 letters/numbers &/or symbols! Now they are 8+ and if you don’t do it right, you are locked out. Sometimes I think we should get rid of all these devices and life would be so much easier!
Actually all the women in my family. The women in my family are from pioneer stock, with good strong values and sense of worth. They thought by example and were willing to answer questions if you had any. They held and comforted you when you were hurt or sad. They supported you when you needed it. They were not politically correct nor did they need equality because they worked side by side by men and women alike. They took no nonsense off those fools who felt sorry for them or wanted them to change. They would smile and politely decline the foolishness of those who labeled everything as male or female. I salute them all on this Mother’s day! I love them all!
